author: Robert Muchamore
thing that drew me in: book 5 in a series
reason for reading: fun
This book has good rhythm. I love how the author is developing side characters in each book so that the circle grows each time. I was again frightened by the descriptions of the physical relations of the kids. (Either he has his characters growing up too fast, or I am naive. (or at least hoping beyond hope that mine are more reticent to develop that side of their natures.)) Sigh. Good read. Think it is a fun series. But not for early teens. Not.for.early.teens.
favorite storyline: seeing how the kids responded to the idea of a cult and how someone not taken in by it saw them for what they really were.
favorite character development: i was glad to see some thoughtfulness and restraint developing in James. Especially coming off the heels of the last book filled with angry outbursts.
